Does Droid Explorer work with Moto Droid (Android 2.0)?

Nov 29, 2009 at 11:27 PM

Does Droid Explorer work with the Moto Droid (which as you know runs Android 2.0). Everytime I try to connect, it says 0 devices found. Same mounted and unmounted. I also put it into debug mode, no luck tho. Any suggestions???

The reason is quite simple - I found it our trying the same:

http://de.codeplex.com/documentation states

Requirements

  • .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
  • Rooted Android Device w/ Busybox
  • Windows USB Drivers
  • USB Debugging enabled on device under Settings -> Applications -> Development

We don't have "rooted device" - what a pity :(

Hoping there will be a way sooner or later!

The droid has now been rooted. Now just need someone to root and install busybox and let me know how it works... http://bit.ly/75wkSW

Still not working

I have a Motorola Droid, ROOTED + BUSYBOX,

Phone is in DEBUG mode

Driver, and SDK installed fine (I have been using adb command line no problem) and can confirm device driver properly installed.

When I connect to Droid Explorer, it detects a device as "BUNCH OF NUMBERS" maybe serial number or other identifier.  The icon isn't correct.  And though it connects OK, I can't see anything.  The only thing that does seem to work is PROCESS EXPLORE within Droid Explorer, and even then the only tab that displays any data is CPU, the rest are blank.  So clearly the two are communicating.  Not sure what the issue is.

Would be happy to help you if needed.

One more thing, I'm running  Android 2.0.1 (that latest update from Verizon)

is busybox in the PATH variable? if you are at the shell, can you type busybox ls -lF and does it give a directory listing? also, maybe enable the debug console to start when droid explorer starts, this is in the options -> plugins -> DebugInfo -> ExecuteOnLoad = True

Then when you start droid explorer, see if it returns any errors when trying to run the busybox ls command

The process explorer is working correctly, only the CPU tab currently does anything. It is not yet completed.

Using the aforementioned thread, I found this did the trick for me.  Still extremely flaky though under Windows 7 x64.  Can't seem to copy files from phone, it seems to think my phone is my local machine.  Hard to explain.  But copying is the biggest thing for me, and it doesn't work.

I am still having problems after using derrickonline's instructions.  I was able to get Droid Explorer to run and connect to what appears to be my phones serial number.  After connecting, it id bring up a directory tree, however, every folder was empty. When I click on File, or View nothing comes up, but clicking on Edit, Tools and Help, brings up a menu.  I selected the debug on load, and here is what it has, any suggestions?  If you look, when I try to access folders, it says permission denied. I have rooted my DROID, as I can go into a shell, type su, and get the # instead of $. Busybox is installed in /system/xbin, which I do see in the folder tree

You can not drag from droid explorer to "local machine". I have not found a good way to make that work yet, every way I have done it, it "hangs" the application for large files. So to copy from the device to the pc, select the files and click the "Left Arrow" in the toolbar or right click the files and click "copy"
